No Sound on Asus AMD/nVidia laptop

Hi, Thanks in advance- I'm trying to get the sound going on my new Asus AMD64x2 Laptop after installing Kubuntu 8.04.

    The sound works under windows.

I love the this distro & I will persevere no matter what.
I hope the following info helps you to get a bit of an idea of what my systems up to.

I typed the following commands & this is what I got:

    aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 0: ALC861VD Analog [ALC861VD Analog]
    Subdevices: 0/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: NVidia [HDA NVidia], device 6: Si3054 Modem [Si3054 Modem]
    Subdevices: 1/1
    Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

    lspci -v
00:07.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP67 High Definition Audio (rev a1)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Unknown device 1339
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 22
    Memory at f9f78000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
    Capabilities: <access denied>

    sudo modprobe snd-
    FATAL: Module snd_ not found

Thank you kindly for any help you can give me!!!

Looking forward to having the sound!

    Check out the following post:

Given that my laptop is also an Asus (A6000J) I reckon the toying with alsamixer that I mention there will probably do the trick for you too (although my sound card is an inbuilt intel one).
