HP Compaq 6910p SD card reader does not work

I have a HP Compaq 6910p with a Ricoh R5C822 multi-card reader. Have only tested it with SD card; nothing happens at all when I insert the card.

I have installed the sdricoh_cs driver available from sourceforge, but to no help.
