I have an HP dv2617us laptop. The video chipset is Intel GM965.
I just tried the TV-out these days and I could not make it run. I never had time to toy with TV-out until now.
xrandr -q gives the following output:
>>>>
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 1280 x 1280
VGA disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 304mm x 190mm
1280x800 60.0*+ 60.0
1280x768 60.0
1024x768 60.0
800x600 60.3
640x480 59.9
TV connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
1024x768 30.0*
800x600 30.0

I am not getting any TV-out signal during boot (ex: when in BIOS setup). Am I supposed to? Is my box defective?
When I make changes with xrandr, like switching to another resolution, the TV screen flickers but returns to blank.
A few days back I got a B/W image after a reboot. I tried xrandr --off and it went off but when I applied xrandr --auto again it did not come back. I cannot seem to be able to replicate the B/W image again no matter what I do.
VGA-out works just fine with xrandr.
I am ataching a copy of my X log
