Xmodmap for KDE? Setup custom keyboard (Logitech G11)

    Hi,

I tried creating an Xmodmap file in my home directory with an updated list of key codes pertaining to the 18 extra function keys (G1 to G18) like one would do in Ubuntu. This does not affect anything.

I understand a different process is required to modify the keyboard layout in Kubuntu which involves using AE03 or something to identify the button position, but how would I find this position number for these special keys that are not listed online anywhere. In addition does just modifying the 'us' file for keyboard with the extra settings work?

I have a fresh installation of Kubuntu 8.04 Hardy (not an upgrade) with a Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard, this is nearly identical to G15 but without a display.

I have installed g15daemon and other similar packages which do not help.

I do know the keycodes for G1-G18 as used for Xmodmap if needed.

    Cheers!
    -Bryan

    open a terminal
    type xev
point your cursor in the lttle box and press the desired key

read the keycode in the terminal window.

use kubuntu's system settings to assign your function keys to do what you want.
