    bcm43xx upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 im a noob

    i recently upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04. in 7.10 my bcm4318 wifi card was up and running. i used bcm ffcutter to install the drivers. upon upgrading to 8.04 my wifi card is no longer working. i checked to make sure that the bcm ffcutter file was still loaded and it is. help please. Ive been looking around trying to find a fix with no prevail.

    i have a gateway mx3215
    running kubuntu 8.04

    Its a new kernel, 2.6.24 from 2.6.22, so you will have to recut the firmware for the new kernel.

    I had it running under ndiswrapper, but hardy did it all for me on a dist upgrade, check the restricted driver thingy.

      I found that for best results, the ndiswrapper driver with the Broadcom driver off the acer europe website works better then the firmware driver way.

      Ndiswrapper Driver
      - 54MB speed
      - Allows you to connect to far away routers
      - Light isn't constantly flashing

      Firmware Driver
      - 24MB speed
      - Works best at close-range routers
      - Light is flashing when data is being transfered
