    Sound level is faint

    Hello guys,
Apologies if this post does not fit in the hardware problem, but I am not sure what the problem is: please advise

I am pretty new to the world of Kubuntu, and I have used occasionally Feisty without any problem on my Sony VAIO VGN-TX610P.

Yesterday I have updated Kubuntu to version 8.04 and all of a sudden the sound level of the computer is very faint. If I connect the mic output to a receiver and pump up the volume to the max I can listen to the sound.

I have checked that the sound level is set to max from the software knobs.

How can I check the specs of the sound card in kubuntu?

    Is this a driver problem?

    Thanks for your advise

    ciao

    Andrea

    Hi,

I think you can see your devices by clicking Kmenu->System->Kinfocenter and Sound -here you can also see which drivers are being used. There's a console command as well --

    lspci

Are you using Kmix or Alsamixer? If one doesn't work, you might want to try the other one as well.

    I break it, therefore I learn it.<br />
