The problem is very strange.. I used to have Ubuntu 7.10 + Gnome and it does not have sound at any level.
However if I tried to listening to music with the Amarok, only then the ALSA worked with that program but not with any other application or even with the OS
I thought that was a Gnome problem so I installed Kubuntu. Now the problem is still around but now I can see videos I use Kaffeine but sound does not work with any other thing (except obviously Amarok :P)
