    Changes to iwl3945 in 8.04

Can anyone confirm that changes were made to the iwl3945 driver in 8.04? Since upgrading from 7.10 to 8.04 I cannot get a connection when the machine boots and the wifi activity LED no longer works

I can confirm that this is definitely an iwl3945 driver bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/220640. Installing the module linux-backport-modules-hardy-generic gives me a working LED but the failure to connect on boot is still there. It is also dropping the connection from time to time. So what do I do now? I'm complete stuffed without a reliable wifi connection. Yes I really am going to have to dust off my old Microsoft XP laptop just to stay connected

Googling for this bug show it to have been known about for over a month. Why did end up in the 8.04 distro? The new iwl3945 is broken the old ipw3945 works. Is there anyone out there who knows how to get the old driver working under 8.04?

I have a similar problem (no led, random connection) and there seems to be some promising solutions there. I haven't tried any yet.
