IBM T23 and Hardy

I'm having fun with Kubuntu. Very nice. However, on this last upgrade from 7.10 to Hardy I seem to have lost the use of volume and mute buttons on my old IBM T23.

Is there anyway to reactivate those buttons? I really prefer those over clicking on the speaker icon and using the slider.
