Kubuntu 8.04 and Adept Add & Remove Programs

Just updated 7.10 to 8.04 using the Alternate CD. Install appeared to go like the wind, but just one problem (so far).

I am unable to install any software from the Adept Add and Remove area.

My mouse will NOT put an "X" in the check box of the software selected! Mouse worked just fine in 7.10.

Mouse appears to do what it's supposed to do single click - select, double click -run and vertical scroll act normally.

Any ideas anyone?

i removed adept & related packages, install synaptic package manger and related packages.

That may be one solution, but is it the best one? I don't know what Synaptic is or how I would get it with out Adept.

I am fairly certain that this could be done via the command line, but, being a newb I haven't a clue how to do it.

Perhaps this msg is in the wrong place.

Should I post this problem in another area?

I had this issue too. It has something to do with the reload of the catalog, I guess.

I did open a console:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Afterwards everything was back to normal....
