X configuration for HP Compaq 6710b
    Hi,

I can't switch to anything higher than 1280x800. The image at that resolution is not exactly sharp; so I guess the screen's native resolution must be higher. I've tried a number of things (915resolution, ...) but I only managed to garble the screen. Grin

Is there any "default" advised X configuration for this laptop ? I'm attaching my own xorg.conf - just in case.

Btw, the only working way for me to change the resolution on the fly is to use the context menu of the tray icon of KrandRtray. Anything else is plainly ignored.

    Many thanks for helping !

Try this: During reboot check out if grub displays previous version of the kernel. Load OS using it. Ubuntu will load the old vesrion of xorg.conf too. Reboot again this time loading the new kernel version. Check the xorg.conf file. It must be the old version where you can specify your favorite resolution. Sorry for my english - not my native language.
