I installed a new USB host controller card, and Kubuntu 8.04B will only recognize the card if I remove the ehci_hcd module. This, of course, is the "high-speed" driver for USB2, the removal of which pretty much negates the point of adding a high-speed host.
This appears to be a known bug (I found references to it in Ubuntu back in 2006)... I guess my question is, what are people doing to work around this? Surely you all aren't simply using USB at 11 mb/s?
(Card is Bytecc ADP-5-Port w/ VIA chipset)
EDIT: I should mention that I have to run "apci=off" in grub to keep this old BIOS (abit kt7a) from hanging. Not sure it that would have residual effects on ehci_hcd or not...
