framebuffer problems

Hi all,

I've tried to activate the framebuffer on my Kubuntu 8.04. I've followed the usual procedure :

but with no success... all my TTYs are black, just a cursor blinking

Has anybody succesfully activated the FB?

did you try with vesafb?
I had to "sudo modprobe vesafb" to get it working

I've been on a lot of forums, and tried a lot of fixes, none worked properly
apparently its a well known bug, still trying to fix it. here are some useful links that might work with some cards

note that my card is Gforce 6600GT (from ASUS if i recall right ^_^)
i had the thing work, but had to type "setupcon" everytime i switched TTYs, not acceptable. Note also that i used the hexa vga definition (vga=0x031a instead of vga=791)
I guess I'll just wait for a proper fix in next kernels ans modules....
for now, i'll just blacklist vesafb and keep the 800*600 console...
