Hi all,
I have vpn installed which was happily working until the recent kernel upgrade to 2.6.22-16-generic. When it did work (under 2.6.22-15-generic), here is how it looked:
=============================================
root@wraith:/home# vpn
Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.8.01 (0640)
Copyright (C) 1998-2007 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Client Type(s): Linux
Running on: Linux 2.6.22-15-generic #1 SMP Tue Oct 21 23:47:12 GMT 2008 i686
Config file directory: /etc/opt/cisco-vpnclient
Initializing the VPN connection.
Contacting the gateway at XXX.X.XX.XX
User Authentication for IPAC_VPN...
Enter Username and Password.
Username []: XXXXXXXX
Passcode []:

Negotiating security policies.
Securing communication channel.
Your VPN connection is secure.
VPN tunnel information.
Client address: XXX.X.XXX.XXX
Server address: XXX.X.XX.XX
Encryption: 128-bit AES
Authentication: HMAC-SHA
IP Compression: None
NAT passthrough is active on port UDP 4500
Local LAN Access is disabled
==========================================
where I have replaced various bits with X's of course. Now, with 2.6.22-16-generic, I encounter the following:
========================================
root@wraith:/home# vpn
Cisco Systems VPN Client Version 4.8.01 (0640)
Copyright (C) 1998-2007 Cisco Systems, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
Client Type(s): Linux
Running on: Linux 2.6.22-16-generic #1 SMP Mon Nov 24 18:28:27 GMT 2008 i686
Config file directory: /etc/opt/cisco-vpnclient
Could not attach to driver. Is kernel module loaded?
The application was unable to communicate with the VPN sub-system.
========================================
Anyone else encounter this issue for vpn on a kernel upgrade. Anyone have a solution?
Thanks,
Stephen
