How to install packages from the DVD

Hi,
I have Gusty DVD,In adept manager i just included some online repositories.....then it downloaded the name,description of packages from the remote source.....

When i tried to install gimp,(i searched gimp in adept)it showed that the gimp package is in the DVD (i saw the DVD icon nearby the list)

and i just gave "request install" instead of getting the gimp files from the DVD it just downloaded all files from the internet...how can i make adept to use packages which are available in the DVD without downloading them from the internet....

Then how can i install packages which i have downloaded from the internet.is there any way to add a local folder as a respository?

The system will always get the most up to date packages, these are most likely to be the online versions.

I have not used adept much and prefer synaptic. Synaptic allows you to force versions of software, I am sure adept must be able to do this, but I cannot find out how.
