Why does this command fail? - sudo clamtk

I just used adept to install clamTk (anti virus utility).
Installed properly - no error messages, but signature files are outdated.
So I attempted to update them but must use program as root.

I went into terminal mode and typed: sudo clamtk <enter>

    but this error message appeared:

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
    Xlib: No protocol specified
    Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: at /usr/bin/clamtk line 21.

    Help.

clamtk is a GUI application? Appears to be so. In the console type:
    Code:
    kdesu clamtk
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Thanks, I'll give that a try after I fix the system that I just broke.

I attempted to back out of an earlier automated update today and messed up the whole thing. I no longer have xwindows installed.

When I reboot all I have is command mode.

This catastrophe occurred after I tried to rewind to the previous version of CUPS that was installed prior to today's new update.
