I'm quite new to all of this, so please forgive me if this is a question that has been asked before.
I'm trying to switch from SCIM to UIM, and I followed these tutorials

but I can't get it to work. I've downloaded the packages, so I have UIM on my computer, but SCIM always takes over. Even if I turn it (scim) off, and just run UIM, nothing happens.
Can anyone help me on this?
