Re: Installed Comiz-Fusion is not working

    Nope still not working.

One thing came to my mind a couple of hours ago:

When I type in "glxgears" in the console I get this warning: "Warning, xpress200 detected".

Could it be that Compiz is not compateble with my graphicscard?

But as far as I could read me to it is.

Does glxgears run the graphic? If not, you need to fix the glx function, upon which compiz is built.

I would start with re-installing the video driver, and testing it for glx capability (with glxgears). A google search on that "xpress200" error might also be informative.

But if the gears is spinning (as they do here), isn't the video driver already capable(not sure capable is the right word, but I hope you understand me).

Well I will be re-installing compiz tomorrow, as I had a crash that I could not recover from.
I connected a external monitor and the system went crazy. I could not get it to boot to X.
I would run the startx command but it would not run it.

Good thing I have a home partition.

Re: Installed Comiz-Fusion is not working

Well I installed compiz this morning and it went well. I did find that I could not use the ATI drivers from ATI (the .run file would not run). And when I enabled the restricted ATI driver compiz would not run.

So this is what I did. I went to the link for the Kubuntu doc and did every thing it told me to do. I did add the Emerald plugin.
Once there I rebooted and it worked fine, now I did not have to setup the compiz manager as the config was saved to my home partition. Once I ran it, it was running just the same as before the crash.

Yes, "capable" is the perfect word. Did you Google that error message about the "xpress 200"? Here's what I found - scroll down to the post by jetdog440 and there's a lot of information there:

Sorry, it looks to me like the real solution is "buy an Nvidia card" .... :P

I am using an X300 ATI card with 128mb ram on it. Its a little jumpy at times, and dose not have all the features as compiz dose with my nvida card. But my nvida card only has 64mb ram on it, and works great. the only thing that dos not work on the nvida is when a window is maxed I can not bend it with out it coming loose as if it were not maxed.
