Email from kmail - not received

    I have a new installation on a dual-boot machine.
When I send email from kmail, mail is sent but never
    received.
    No error message.
Thunderbird works fine, I can send without any problem.
    Wallet is disabled.
The smtp host requires authentication, but (see above)
those configurations _are_ working with thunderbird,
    i.e. mail sent _is_ received.

POP works fine. kmail receives email.

I've used kmail for years, never had any problems, so
tips on trouble shooting are invited as well.
    Thanks
    Tim

Do the messages you create and send in kmail go into your sent-mail folder?

No. Unless they are actually received, of the numerous tries that
I have made, only two were delivered and they _are_ in the sent-mail folder.
      thanks

I'd really be inclined to think it's something with your ISP's mail server (sending). The fact that you can send 'sometimes' with Kmail implies this. Have you contacted your ISP's Internet Help Desk?

Glad to know that you are looking out for me...

If it works with thunderbird and it does not work with
kmail, why would do you think to this would be an issue connected to my
          ISPs settings?

I'm interested in your reply and I believe that we will be able
to improve my ISPs performance when this question is answered.

          Thank you for your assistance.

I had assumed (and you know what that says) that some emails from Kmail would 'at times' be sent and at others not. If you are correcting me (please, do) and saying that no emails from Kmail get sent, but in TB they do, then I'd agree with you that it isn't you ISP that's the culprit here, but something you have set incorrectly in Kmail. :P

Have you compared the 'account' settings for sending mail in TB and Kmail? Are there any differences? By chance, does your ISP require account verification (login and password verification) for sending email? Mine did not, until recently. Before they made that change, you only had to setup your login and password on the pop server (receiving). In Kmail, I had to set the outgoing server configuration so that my login account name and password were set. Until I did this, I could receive email, but not send it. Sounds very much like what's happening to you.

Re: Email from kmail - not received

Turns out not to be a smtp issue at all.
For some reason, the emails were being "jailed"
in the outbox. After choosing the "Send Queued Messages"
option, they were sent, and thereafter deliveries
              seem to go as expected.
              Thanks for the help.
