Nautilus and ctrl+f

I installed nautilus at the recommendation that it has a search feature ctrl+f , But when I use it to try and search it comes back w/ an error that
The folder could not be displayed.

The name org.freedesktop.Tracker was not provided by any .service files
I tried to install w/ apt org.freedesktop.Tracker

bob@bob-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install org.freedesktop.Tracker
[sudo] password for bob:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package org.freedesktop.Tracker
tia for any help

The package you need is tracker.
"Some people says that if you play a Windoze Vista install DVD backwards you will hear demon voices commanding you to worship Satan". But that's nothing. If you play it forward it will install Windoze Vista.

Mandriva 2008.1
FreeBSD 6.2

hmmm... tracker is installed, but nautilus doesn't actually find anything.

It just instantly displays search results w/ no results.

atm I'm looking for firefox.exe I had it yesterday, but now I can't find where wine put it. Can't find wine either.

ok, found a tip to use ctrl+h to hide/unhide files, and I found wine in my home dir, also found firefox.exe.

Search still isn't working though.

Although I wonder why you need to install Nautilus just to have a Search function. Konqueror/KDE has one built-in (although Kubuntu changed that in the K Menu). In Konqueror, while viewing a directory, press Ctrl+F. Or press Alt+F2 and run "kfind".

This is on the kids machine running xubuntu. I had kubuntu on this one once upon a time, but after trying many distros and finally getting xubuntu stable I don't want to change this one any more.
