    VENTING: What happened to Malsync?

    I used to really enjoy using AvantGo on my Palm Pilot, and I used to be able to sync AvantGo to my Palm PIlot on my Kubuntu box very easily. Then at some point the Mal conduit was removed from KPilot. I was able to recompile KPilot with Mal support for awhile, but then I upgraded to Feisty and this was no longer an option. I could do my sync with Malsync on the command line at that point but it was a hassle.

    At this point, Malsync doesn't even exist in Kubuntu or KDE. I haven't found Malsync anywhere online. So, no more AvantGo for me, which really irks me since I pretty much haven't used my Palm Pilot for anything else for quite awhile.

    Anyone know what happened to Malsync, and why it was discontinued? I can't possibly be the only person in the world who found it useful.

    Bug #73113 in malsync (Ubuntu) / Please remove malsync from the Archive
    https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ync/+bug/73113
    Bug description.

    http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=394544 is the Debian removal request. It's unmainainted upstream and bug 66824 or http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=389386 might never get fixed.
    You can find malsync from the : Ubuntu Packages.

    You have searched for packages that names contain malsync in all suites, all sections, and all architectures. Found 1 matching packages.

    Package malsync

    * dapper (otherosfs): Allows a PalmOS PDA to synchronize to a MAL server [universe]
    2.2.0-2: amd64 i386 powerpc
    * edgy (otherosfs): Allows a PalmOS PDA to synchronize to a MAL server [universe]
    2.2.0-2: amd64 i386 powerpc
    => Package: malsync (2.2.0-2)
    http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/malsync

    Maybe edgy (or dapper) version is working with the Gutsy ?. Another option is to use the repostitory source packages and make (or try) : DIY Forwardport.
