    Laptop will not turn off

I had previously installed feisty on this laptop and it would turn off all the way every time when I selected Log off->Turn Off, but now on Gutsy most of the time it hangs at a prompt (see image). It does turn off all the way some of the time however. I don't know what causes this behavior.

Has anyone encountered this? Any idea on where to look to find the problem?

The times where I've tried "shutdown -h now" it has worked, but I'd rather shutdown through the menu.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply, but that's not the issue. It's already checked and as I mentioned it shuts down sometimes, but often it doesn't.

        Well,

for what it's worth, I can confirm onortosu's complaint. I too get that message quite often, not only with shutdown but also with restart --at the end of the black screen (after the Kubuntu blue line disappears) just as seen in that screenshot it says "will halt now" or "will restart now" yet it fails to do so and just sits there, only hard reboot will do. My default shutdown option is set to "Turn off computer" just like it should.

What I find particularly interesting is that there is no apparent logic behind it - it just happens randomly, I would say in about 1/3 of all intended shutdowns.

Just like my co-martyr I have no idea how to determine what's causing this, so I guess I'll just live with it
        I break it, therefore I learn it.<br />
