Xine parameters/Covers in Amarok

I was listening to a shoutcast stream today and then all of a sudden it stopped playing. When I tried to play the stream again, it said that the right codec wasn't there and then another box said that it couldn't play due to the xine parameters. Any music that I've downloaded plays fine though. Also, on a minor note, Amarok won't fetch any album covers. In a previous install it would do it fine. Thanks for any light that can be shed!

Hmm....for kicks I decided to install kubuntu-desktop [I often do this to make sure nothing is missing from my installatation--had a bad experience once before] and the streams seem to be working--after a bunch of things were installed.

amarok stopped fetching covers here as well
will try to see what it is and post back if i find anything.
