I'm having problems accessing a music collection on a USB hard drive on Gutsy.
Nearly all the files are flac, ripped from CDs with each CD in a separate directory. When Amarok scans the parent directory, it only acknowledges about half of the directories.
When I went to investigate I found that dolphin 0.92 couldn't see any files in the directories that Amarok ignored (but it did see the directory), yet Konqueror and dolphin 1.02 (under KDE4) could see all of the files. Kaffeine, while it can see the files, can't do anything with them.
As far as I can tell, there's no difference between the files or directories that are invisible/unplayable and those that are visible/playable (other than the file names).
Another mystery is that in Feisty, all files were readable by Amarok and I've never seen any other files that are hidden to one program but not another.
Any thoughts on what's going on or how to fix?
Paul
