kde4 konsole can't /.configure

I was trying to compile gimp-gap the other day but /.configure wouldn't work in kde4's konsole (2.0). But when I opened up konsole 1.6.6, still within kde4, /.configure worked fine. Any ideas why this would be?

Also, do both konsole versions share the same .bashrc file?
