Setting Up My Own E-mail Server

Has anyone setup their very own e-mail server? I'm considering doing this as a "fun" project and just wanted to know what my Linux options are. Basically, I want to be able to have a custom e-mail address and my e-mail "service provider" (i.e. gmail, yahoo, AOL, etc.) would be my own desktop machine running an e-mail server.

Does anyone have any tips or links that would help get me started?

    Thanks,

    Mike

Re: Setting Up My Own E-mail Server

Well, that's a lot of reading I wonder if my old PC can handle my day-to-day usage AND operate as a mail server? Hmmmm.. Okay, well this is a long term project and one that I will likely get around to doing but for now...I'm still working on getting Samba to work.

Thanks for the replies and I'll post back if I get it up and running.
