    Unwanted programs at startup

I have about three programs that startup when I boot my Gutsy install. I am a relatively new user but did look in the .kde/share/autostart folder in my home. None of the programs show up there. I have looked in other places mentioned in the forum but still cannot find them. I don't mind closing them each time but it seems like it would be easy to fix however it has stumped me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Which applications are they?

Try this to see if it eliminates them. Go to System Settings and then the Advanced TAB. Click on Session Manager. Once there choose Start With an Empty Session. Click apply. Close out System Settings and log out and log back in. May have to do the log out/log in twice just not sure. Once that is done and it seems to have the desired effect, you can re-enable the Saving of Sessions.

Thanks. I will give that a try. I didn't think of that one but I have a lot to learn and it is fun doing so.

I agree. Let me know if that works.

That was it. Thanks very much for your help. I will probably have a lot of other question but those will appear in other threads. This forum is the most helpful I have ever participated in.

Glad that worked! I've actually been looking around for a solution to that problem. Another had the same issue. We couldn't figure it out. I did some more poking around and I found some stuff related to restoring sessions. I was hoping that was it!

              Cheers!
