    Pulseaudio

    Hi,

    I'm trying to get pulseaudio working but am getting some challenges with the packages provided with Kubuntu. Wasn't pulseaudio supposed to be the default on Hardy? Or is it only for Ubuntu?

    Anyway I installed all the pulseaudio packages but it doesn't seem to work very well:

    1. I have to start it manually, /etc/init.d/pulseaudio doesn't seem to do anything.

    2. When I start it manually, I get the following errors (even though it doesn't crash):

    $ pulseaudio
    E: alsa-util.c: Error opening PCM device hw:0: Device or resource busy
    E: module.c: Failed to load module "module-alsa-sink" (argument: "device_id=0 sink_name=alsa_output.pci_8086_27d8_sound_card_0_a lsa_playback_0"): initialization failed.

    3. When I try to use it with Amarok, Amarok just crashes. The Amarok engine is xine by default and I've just changed the output plugin to be pulseaudio.

    4. Pulseaudio volume control always crashes when I start it.

    5. Even after installing libflashsupport, flash 9 doesn't use pulseaudio.

    I wonder if I shouldn't have installed Pulsaudio manually like I did for Gutsy...

    Thanks for any help!
