MySQL & Windoze ODCB

Good day -
Hopefully this is the right place to post this.

I am trying to get an ODBC connection to my MySQL DB that is hosted on Kubuntu.

Both Vista & XP - firewalls disabled, are unable to create the ODBC link.

I am using the MySQL ODBC Connector tool.

Every Time I try I get the error : Request Returned SQL_ERROR

MySQL is setup default. and I have firewall on Kubuntu shut down too.

Any Suggestions?

I had to change the MySQL Bind To IP
it was pointing to 127.0.0.1
but I had to change it to 192.168.0.197 ( which is localhost ) but that way my workstations can see it.
