    localhost lost!?

    I have an utterly annoying problem. When I open ksysguard it says that the connection to localhost was lost (over and over again). Recently I've been setting up a home network with samba and also tried zeroconf and so on, and this was when this started happening. Any ideas?

    Post the contents of /etc/hosts, that might give us a clue.

      Right. Here it is.

      127.0.0.1 localhost
      127.0.1.1 hiroshima

      # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
      ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
      fe00::0 ip6-localnet
      ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
      ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
      ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
      ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
      Note that hiroshima is my computername

        Hmmm... that seems in order there. What is the ip of the machine? I think zeroconf can mess with your IP. I don't use it, but I had accidentally installed it once on a server and it would randomly end up with a 169.254.x.x IP, which didn't work on my network.
