    OpenOffice & Kubuntu

    My OpenOffice does not work!

I want to remove it (just in case parts are still in place) an install the latest version for Gutsy. I'm kinda new so please be patient.

Open KMenu -> System -> Adept Manager. Login and when Adept open, type "openoffice" (w/o the commas) in the search bar. you will see a list of all the packages with a similar name, especially the open office packages. the 'status' column will tell you which is installed. right click a certain package and choose 'request removal'. that way you can uninstall any package.

At the end click "apply changes" at the top toolbar.

Note that some packages require others so you might remove more than you want. so do that carefully.

I followed the above instructions and the packages were not installed so I installed them...they are working well. The icons and buttons are primitive though. Am I missing something

are you talking about the icons and buttons of Open Office ? I'm afraid you will not find it visualy appealing as Micro$oft Office but then again, this isn't M$ office.

funcitionality wise I'd say it's up to par. If you're looking for a better look there are some ''skins?'' Mint kde OO0 has a little different look than standard.
