[ SOLVED] Downgrading from KDE 4.0.2 to KDE 4.0.1

I have Kubuntu Gutsy and KDE 4.0.0 was running effortlessly. Then I updated it to KDe 4.0.1, which also seemed to work flawlessly, apart from the regular bugs.
I recently updated to KDE 4.0.2 and now KDE 4 refuses to boot. It crashes/freezes with a sig 11. I have tried re installing all the packages but the issue remains.

Is there a way to go back to KDE 4.0.1. I installed it from the launchpad mirror. Synaptic doesn't give me an option to chose older versions.
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

For some reason, adept wanted to REMOVE a bunch of random, important packages when 4.0.2 was released. A few people noticed that here on the forums. It's quite possible that as you installed 4.0.2 some other important packages from your system were removed (for no good reason).

I'm not sure of the best way to fix that problem, since we can't be sure what may have been removed, but perhaps someone else around these parts can get you started.

Yes, ppa /1/ repositories aren't ordinary repositories . They have cleaned old packages off.

If you have not cleaned local package archives /2/. Then it is possible that 4.0.1 packages are already in your computer. Check /var/cache/apt/archives. I have there three version of KDE4 packages:
      ...
      kdeadmin-kde4_4%3a4.0.0-0ubuntu1~gutsy1~ppa2_all.deb
      kdeadmin-kde4_4%3a4.0.1-0ubuntu1~gutsy1~ppa1_all.deb
      kdeadmin-kde4_4%3a4.0.2-0ubuntu1~gutsy1~ppa1_all.deb
      ...

I'm not sure of the best way to fix that problem, since we can't be sure what may have been removed, but perhaps someone else around these parts can get you started.
If xmen24 is using Synaptic package manager: Install (and remove) history is in Synaptic > File > History ...

If upgrading was made from commandline or with adept: /var/log/dpkg.log. dpkg.log is the log file for dpkg. dpkg - package manager for Debian (base of all package management in the Debian based distributions).

Something to try: Sometimes it helps to rename (remove) .kde4 folder. This helps if kde4 settings (that are in the kde4 directory tree) are damaged.

Re: Downgrading from KDE 4.0.2 to KDE 4.0.1

Thanks a lot for the response.
Unfortunately my old archives were autocleaned. I did that once I finished installing the KDE 4.0.2 packages. Shouldn't have done that...

Synaptics' force version doesn't display the older packages.

I have also tried removing the .kde4 folder, but no use..
Now i wish I had a time machine to revert my settings

          It crashes/freezes with a sig 11.
Can you post the error message ?

            Thanks a lot Rog131

Works great. Thanks for the KDE 4.0.1 packages.
Will stick to it, till the next KDE update comes in.
