Playing a .m3u stream in Amarok

One of my favorite Internet radio stations broadcasts using the .m3u (streaming mp3) format. If I try to load it as a radio stream, I just get a bunch of HTML code in the playlist window. (The url is http://kuatfm.org/streaming/KUATHQ.m3u.) I've also tried going to the stations's website and clicking on the Listen button, which brings up a .m3u file and asks me what application to use to play it. The default is the movie player mplayer, which of course is not what I want to play audio. If I select Other for the application, the helper chooser doesn't provide a way to get to /usr/bin/amarok; the only locations it shows under "filesystem" are /home and various media locations. The root directory (or /usr) doesn't seem to be accessible.

At one point I was able to play this stream, but apparently whatever settings I had in Amarok don't work any more.

From their website I was able to get the 56k quality stream to work in amarok by using the url: http://media.azpm.org/radio/m3u/classical56.m3u, and pasting that into the Add Stream dialog.

Their high-quality stream wouldn't work for me.

      Try this:

      In Amarok, click Playlist/Add Stream.

In the URL line, enter: http://150.135.250.53:9000

Then when that's in your playlist, right click the selection and click play.

I did that and listened on Amarok while it played the high speed stream. Very nice.
