    compiz

    Hello
I tried to install compiz but I have some questions on what packages to install.
In the guide that I found there are this packages

    compiz
    compiz-bcop
    compiz-core
    compiz-fusion-plugins-extra
    compiz-fusion-plugins-main
    compiz-kde
    compiz-plugins compizconfig-settings-manager
    emerald
    libcompizconfig-backend-kconfig
    libcompizconfig0
    libdecoration0
    libemeraldengine0 python-compizconfig

I tried to install but in my ccsm (compiz-plugins compizconfig-settings-manager ) the icons are missing.

I'd like to now if it's enough install compiz-kde instead of install compiz(I think it's for gnome) too.

    Re: compiz

I just checked, in my Hardy Heron/KDE4 system, comparing to your list, I have these:

but also these that are not on your list:

    compiz-dev
    compiz-gnome
    compiz-backend-gconf
    compiz-backend-kconfig

and I do not have this one:

    libcompizconfig-backend-kconfig

For fun, I marked it for installation, but Adept gave me an "error committing changes" so it was not installed. Compiz works fine without it, on my system.

By the way, I did not need to deliberately install the libxxx or the python packages -- they were pulled in automatically when I marked the compiz and emerald packages.

Make sure your driver will run glxgears first.
