A Word of Warning concerning tonight's Upgrade....

I just upgraded my KDE 4.02 installation, and one of the things to remove (upgrade) was kde4-core.

I appear to have lost KDE 4 completely, the only options on the log-in screen are Default, KDE, and Failsafe.

    ?

I had earlier enabled two of the repositories - but i'm not sure which ones they were.

Hopefully this won't happen to anyone else.

Actually it removes kdebase-workspace which is just as damaging as it also uninstalls kwin-kde4 and a few other stuff.

I stayed away from that to day and will wait until synaptic tells me it's okay

Oops... silly me. I just ran the updates without checking to see what it was going to do. Everything is working fine for me. Not sure where the problem is with the update for some.

Re: A Word of Warning concerning tonight's Upgrade....

It seems that i'm not meant to use KDE 4.x (or HH for that matter), i always seem to end up back on 3.5.9.
I did notice, though, that i was spending more time fiddling with 4.x than i was actually working, so maybe it's an unconscious action on my part to keep me doing things i ought to do -- rather than things i want to do.

Haps i'll just stick with what i've got until HH is a Release Candidate.

One thing i did notice about having 4.x installed was that the font size appeared larger, so i decreased it, and when i logged back into 3.5.9, i had to re-set them all again because they were too small.

I nearly wore out the Font button on System settings.
