    I have no idea, actually. I just did the same, cd ~ and claer, and got Command not found (which doesn't say anything about what happened to you).

    Did you try to type some other mal-formed command to see if command-not-found is working?

    Like

    sudo fdiks -l

    or some other bad command.

        This may be just a shot in the dark but I think that GG had an update pertaining to "command not found" not too long ago.
        Could this be related?
        HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)
        4 GB Ram
        Kubuntu 18.10
