Hello Friends:

Since I installed Synaptic Package Manage, is it safe for me to delete
Adept Manager and Adept Installer? Please advise

No. Uninstalling (removing) Adept removes a lot more than you think. Open a console and type:

sudo apt-get remove --simulate adept

You'll notice that your kubuntu-desktop and language-selector-qt packages will also be removed.

You don't have to use Adept of you want to use Synaptic instead.

I can't get adept manager to work , after i tried to put medibuntu into the library . Here is the error i get
E:Type 'http://www.medibuntu.org/source.list.d/hardy.
List is not know on line 54 in source list /etc/apt/source.list
E: The list of sources could not be read.

any help would be great. thanks

HOWTO: Add the Medibuntu Repository and PGP Key

And,

For Gutsy Installations:

Open Adept Manager (K Menu | System | Adept Manger) and click on Adept | Manage Repositories. On the first tab, check all items (you don't need the last item checked unless you intend to download source files for compiling). On the Third-Party Software tab uncheck/delete the cdrom repository entry. Close the window. If Adept doesn't automatically fetch updates, click on Fetch Updates. You will now have access to the thousands of available packages. If you still have problems, open a console and type:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

If this isn't followed, then the cdrom as a package repository is still 'activated' in Adept Manager and you will have problems when trying to install packages.

kubuntu desktop is safe to uninstall, its only a meta pacakge. but i think other packages depend on language-selector-qt.

If you believe that you removed adept manager, then use synaptic to reinstall it.

Something went wrong when you tried to add the medibuntu repository, and your sources.list has a syntax error on line 54.

Open up sources.list for editing with:

kdesu kate /etc/apt/sources.list

and delete the line 54 (the line with 'http://www.medibuntu.org/source.list.d/hardy' on it)
If you wish to enable the repository while you're editing the file, you can replace the line with:

deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ gutsy free non-free
