LAMP or XAMP

hai guys,

i am new to linux. i have not much of knowledge on linux. but i have manage to install the new kubuntu.

i have been working on wamp . but now i would like to work on linux (as i like the bash scripting in linux).

i want to work with php+linux+mysql combination. guys please help me. i am desp

erate as i don't want to work in windows anymore.

If you've been using Apache, MySQL and PHP under Windows you shouldn't find much difference in how they work under Linux; if anything I'd expect it to be easier. Of course you may need to learn about how to admin a Linux system, for web hosting most notably permissions and firewalling. (For example, "403 forbidden" errors when trying to view web pages commonly mean the permissions are set wrong).

The main issue is setting the thing up in the first place I suppose. Have you tried XAMPP?

As for bash - well, it's good for some things, but I don't recommend using it for your actual website scripting, unless you actually want to write websites that do basic system operations.
