    Amarok Script Manager fails to install any new scripts.

    Script installation failed.
    The package did not contain an executable file.
    Please inform the package maintainer about this error.

    That's the error message I get, with trying to install any new script. It was working a few weeks ago, but not now so I must have done something to disturb whatever it needs but have been unsucessful finding it. I did the some of the more obvious apt-get commands such as:

    $ sudo dpkg --configure -a, $ sudo apt-get autoclean, $ sudo apt-get check
    $ sudo apt-get update, $ sudo apt-get remove --purge amarok, $ sudo apt-get install amarok

    I also made sure I turned off the backports in /etc/apt/sources.list and going throuigh the entire process again.

    I also tried manually deleting my ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok and ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc and doing a complete installation of amarok - still the same results.

    Everything installs and amarok seems to work but can't I add any scripts. I tried manually downloading the scripts and using the "install script" and point to the archive, as well as use the "get more scripts" and install option - neither works.

    any suggestions?

    I never did get the Amarok Script manager to install any script, but got a way to make it work: I unpacked the the *.bz2 using tar -jxvf and then as root copied the entire directory that was created to /usr/share/apps/amarok/scripts Afterward it appeared in the Amarok Script manager menu and I could turn the new script on - and it worked
