    Saving HTML pages

Is there an application to save HTML pages from the Internet in a form that can be attached to an email? Is there an application that will convert an HTML page into a PDF document?

I am aware that you can save an HTML page as Web page, HTML only or as Web page, complete. The first will save the text but not the graphics; the second will save all of the graphics in a folder separate from the text of the article.

If I were to send the Web page, complete via email, I would have to attach both the article and the folder of graphics. But my email client doesn't like to / won't allow me to attach a folder. So I'd have to attach each of the graphics files separately. Not good!

The workaround that I have used before and which I want to replace is this: I have taken a series of KSnapshots of the page(s), making sure that I have some overlap between snapshots and have attached these .png files to the email. It works, but not very efficiently.

    Any other suggestions. TIA.

You email client doesn't have an option to "send page as link" (or similar language)? In Konqueror, while on any displayed site, you can click File | Send Link Address...

Which email client are you using?
Kmail, thunderbird, etc lets you insert a link to that page into any "text" on your mail.

Just don't for get the http:// before the www.blah.bal part.

As snowhog suggested you can send just about any file/page directly from konqueror or FF (Firefox)

      Edit:
Is there an application that will convert an HTML page into a PDF document?

s there an application that will convert an HTML page into a PDF document?

        From repositories

        html2ps
        HTML to PostScript converter
This program converts HTML directly to PostScript. The HTML code can be
retrieved from one or more URLs or local files, specified as parameters on the
command line. A comprehensive level of HTML is supported, including inline
images, CSS 1.0, and some features of HTML 4.0.

        Homepage: <http://www.tdb.uu.se/~jan/html2ps.html>
        and

        man ps2pdf
        PS2PDF(1) Ghostscript PS2PDF(1)

        NAME
ps2pdf - Convert PostScript to PDF using ghostscript
        ps2pdf12 - Convert PostScript to PDF 1.2 (Acrobat 3-and-later compati‐
        ble) using ghostscript
        ps2pdf13 - Convert PostScript to PDF 1.3 (Acrobat 4-and-later compati‐
        ble) using ghostscript

        SYNOPSIS
        ps2pdf [options...] {input.[e]ps|-} [output.pdf|-]
        ps2pdf12 [options...] {input.[e]ps|-} [output.pdf|-]
        ps2pdf13 [options...] {input.[e]ps|-} [output.pdf|-]

        DESCRIPTION
The ps2pdf scripts are work-alikes for nearly all the functionality
(but not the user interface) of Adobe’s Acrobat(TM) Distiller(TM) prod‐
uct: they convert PostScript files to Portable Document Format (PDF)
        files.

          Re: Saving HTML pages

I'm sorry that I was not completely clear in my initial message. I am using Thunderbird as an email client and am familiar with inserting a link in my email; I've done that many times.

However, in this particular case, I am a subscriber to the Linux Journal and I wanted to copy an article from the LJ website and save it as a PDF document.

I tried out html2ps and was not completely successful. I'm sure that it was my fault that I couldn't get it to work, but I didn't spend that much time on it. I will learn about it later.

I finally succeeded using Open Office. I downloaded the HTML document to my Desktop, read it into Open Office, edited out all the extraneous material at the beginning and the end of the article, and exported it as a PDF document. It worked fine!

Thank you, Rog131, Snowhog, and Fintan. One more step up the learning curve...

If you have the package cups-pdf installed, then you have the option to Print to File (PDF) directly.
