    Quick Kernel Question

I have on question about the Linux kernel packages in the Repositories. I noticed that there is a Linux-image-i386. I have a Pentium 4 CPU. Right now I am running Linux-image-generic. Will I see an improvement in speed or anything if I change Linux kernels. Just curious.

no, the i686 & other -architechure kernel packages were killed in favor of generic. (it contains them all).

So needles to say the i386 packages is just for legacy users upgrading?

you mean a meta package to ease upgrades? i would assume thats the case.
