    Upgrade breaks flash plugin

Ok, did an upgrade using adept_manager today (using kubuntu 7.10), and suddenly the flash player is broken. No more youtube for me :-( Checked it both in opera 9.25 and firefox 2.0.0.11, opera shows a grey square where the youtube vid should be, firefox just states " Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player."

Javascript is on in both browsers, and when checking in adept_manager, flashplugin-nonfree 9.0.48.0.2+really0ubuntu12.1 is installed. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling, doesn't change a thing. When I check plugins in firefox with aboutlugins I get this bit:

    Shockwave Flash

    File name: libflashplayer.so
    Shockwave Flash 9.0 r115

    MIME Type Description Suffixes Enabled
    application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash swf Yes
    application/futuresplash FutureSplash Player spl Yes

In opera, Tools->Preferences->Advanced->Plugin-options shows these relevant bits:

    Name Description Path
Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 9.0r115 /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 9.0r115 /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so
Shockwave Flash Shockwave Flash 9.0r115 /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so

The last two are links to /etc/alternatives/firefox-flashplugin which itself is a link to /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so, so there's only one version installed. Can't figure out what the problem is, tried un- and reinstalling the flash player, but that doesn't do zip. Everything worked fine until the full upgrade this morning, which is always a major pain in the ass. Any help?

Update: uninstalling the noscript addon for firefox allows for audio-only flash in firefox, no change in opera.

    Yo.

Read about the problem here: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3092011.0

Use Opera 9.50b, it works great with Gutsy. You can get it here: http://www.opera.com/download/index....platform=linux

Is this another "hold back your flash upgrade" recommendation?

I currently got flash working, but I remember the last time there was an upgrade it was broken for a few weeks. Is it Adobe that keeps adding stuff that does not work with KDE?

Hey, I think it's a problem with flash. A kind of GTK browser problem or something. Take a look at the links mentioned above. As far as I remember, the problem is also addressed at Adobes flash download section (Linux).
