    System Services

Whenever I boot "System Settings" and then "System Services" under the Advanced tab, the system services shows a LOT of the stuff as "not running" even though I know that it is.

If I click on "Administrator Mode" and then one of the services that "Isn't running" and then "start" the service, I'm informed that it cannot be started since it is already running.

How do I get System Services to display the proper status for services

Many of the services listed are controls that run at boot to 'start another process' and then stop. This is normal. If the item is tagged as Start at Boot, then it did.

okay - but that doesn't explain those that are running, but are listed as "not running".

I can "start" a service as admin and I get a window popping up that informs me that it cannot be started since it is already running.

      Why is that??

Think of those as the old model T engine crank. You used it to get the engine started, then removed it.
