    VLC won't start [FIXED]

    VLC was working just a couple of days ago. Now when I try to start it all I get is the spinning hourglass. Tried to start from Konsole and get this message:

    The program '.' received an X Window System error.
    This probably reflects a bug in the program.
    The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'.
    (Details: serial 716 error_code 11 request_code 147 minor_code 5)
    (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
    that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
    To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
    option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
    backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)

    Anyone having issues with VLC all of a sudden or know how to resolve this?

    Mike

    Re: VLC won't start

    Hi, I'm having problems starting programs since I updated today. It effects Kubuntu and Ubuntu. KDE won't launch programs.

    Look down forum for Antkin posting.

      Apparently there's new bug introduced in the updated Debian xserver-xorg-core. It affects many programs beyond VLC:

        Ah. OK. I do remember an update to xserver-xorg-core just recently.

        Bummer.
