Recently after an update, I periodically get dropped into a console login, I put my login info in, type "startx" and it loads fine, but this is sort of annoying, as I just want it to boot to the desktop. I went to login manager, and changed a few options, namely anything that was labeled "default" to an actual setting.
I did notice that it seemed to drop from the spash to text about where MTA started loading, so I removed packages relating to it (EXIM4). I'll post back if this resolves the issue. I had issues with Feisty 7.04 with the same package.
