Kde4 installation

Hi

I downloaded the 18 tar balls listed for download
how do i go about installing them?

can i still use my present kde?

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

After you will have both KDE and KDE4 in sessions.

im new to linux.. so i might sound foolish

ive downloaded all 18 files from here

now.. i dont know wat to do..
i could as well have done it through adept.. but now ive downloaded the source
how do i go about installing from these files

Those are source code files that require compiling. You may be better served to follow the instructions for adding the required repository to your sources.list and then installing kde4-core from Adept Manager or apt-get.
