(Solved) system menu lost

Hello all
I would like to thank you all for all the help i have received from this forum. I have looked for the problem I have at the moment but have found nothing. I have somehow managed to loose my system menu, or to be more precise, it is empty.
How do I get it back, if at all

try to right click on System Settings and select "Edit Item".

If the "Command:" textfield does not contain text, enter this line:

systemsettings -caption "%c" %i %m

Thank you for response JohanLingen I checked as suggested and it is there. I can add the system menu to the K-menu, but it comes up with an URL error and it is still empty.

Do you litterally mean the System menu entry in the K Menu listing? i.e. K Menu | System ?

Hello Snowhog, no I mean the entry on the panel, normally next K , it is empty and can not seem to find it contents

Okay. Let's use mine as a starting point. I have the following items:

Desktop Access
System Menu
Terminal Sessions

Are you actually 'missing' the System Menu itself (no icon), or is it there, but 'empty' as you have stated?

Thanks for your quick response Snowhog
The icon is now missing, but it was empty. I have tried to get the icon back, but only managed to get it into the K-menu, but it is still empty.
I have also just noticed, it may be related, that i do not have any desktop right-click capability. if you know what i mean

What has happened so far this morning was, I followed the instructions in regards to KDE$ installation and had nothing but problems with it, lost all kde access,but finaly managed to get back in after doing several apt-get autoremoves. KDE is running, minus system menu and desktop right-click capabilities

Right-click your mouse in the tray area where the icon was. Select Panel Menu | Add Applet to Panel

In Search: type System Menu

Click on the item.

Click Add to Panel

Your back in business.

Restart X (Ctrl+Alt+BkSp) and see if the entries 'appear.'

Hello again
It seems when i did apt-get autoremove it removed a few too many packages. After re-installing kde-core everything is back to normal
