    Decent Backup Program?

Hi, here's the problem. Dell Inspiron Laptop, dual boot . Have purchased a Freecom 500Gb USB external HDD for backup purposes amongst other things. FAT 32 format.

Have no problem copying files over to it - have just copied the entire contents of my shared FAT 32 partition without issue, so there is no communication problem. I cannot do likewise for the home partition (Reiser), presumably because numerous files are in use. I don't believe there is anything I can use to view a Reiser partition from within Windows so I'm looking for a backup prog.

The KDE backup apps appear to be quite useless. Keep seems to do nothing at all and Konserve merely sets the laptop hard drive banging away with no effect at all on the external drive. It takes ages to stop it so it obviously "thinks" it's doing something.

Does anyone have any knowledge of a backup application that will do the job for me?

    Thanks all

    Ian
