    proftpd: connection refused

    I have installed proftpd on kubuntu.
    Usage is for internal (home) network only.
    When I attempt to connect to the machine, I get a connection refused.
    Example screen dump:
    Code:
    tim@lucy:~$ ftp
    ftp> open 127.0.0.1
    ftp: connect: Connection refused
    If I attempt to invoke proftpd "by hand" I get the following:
    Code:
    sudo proftpd
    [sudo] password for tim:
     - IPv6 getaddrinfo 'lucy.johnson.com' error: No address associated with hostname
    lucy.johnson.com - fatal: Socket operation on non-socket
    below is my hosts file:
    Code:
    127.0.0.1    localhost.johnson.com  localhost
    192.168.1.4   lucy.johnson.com    lucy
    192.168.1.3   bart.johnson.com    bart
    192.168.1.6   linus.johnson.com    linus
    192.168.1.1   router.johnson.com   router
    192.168.1.5   barbara.johnson.com   barbara
    192.168.1.10  richard.johnson.com   richard
    ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
    fe00::0 ip6-localnet
    ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
    ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
    ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
    ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
    And here is resolve.conf
    Code:
    domain johnson.com
    nameserver 12.6.42.1
    nameserver 12.6.42.2
    Any and all help is appreciated :-)
    Following this is a copy of my proftpd.conf
    I note that it is the same as on my main work station where
    configuration was successful without any editing.
    Thanks
    Tim
