    Dual Boot custom screen

    hey all,
So after getting everything running to the point where I start feeling comfortable I am on to a new challenge. What I am looking for is info on or a how-to on creating a custom dual bootloader screen. I haven't been able to find any pictures or videos online to reference. But what I am looking to do is this, A long time ago i heard a friend of mine talk about how he saw a video of a bootloader(directly after bios screen when you choose between booting windows/linux) which had (sorry I can't recall the correct name for the figure at the moment) a female figure blindfolded holding the scales of justice and in each one there was a little globe. One globe had a windows logo in it and a second had a penguin in it. Whichever he clicked it would raise it up then start the normal loading process.

Is this even possible? or was there some truth to what I was told here.

Yes/maybe/some truth (if you have right kind of bootloader/manager).

I wouldn't try it with Grub/Lilo. Maybe when Grub 2 is ready.

Other options (no - i haven't tried these):

      Right here, Documentation > How-To's:

      How-To Splash Image, (dibl's thread)
      http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3088532.0

See also Herman's bigpond reference given there.
      Easy to do.

Search the Internet (google) for "free art," "free clip art," "free photo galleries," "scales of justice pictures," etc etc. You'll find more than you can handle.

Those will be in some common file format, which you can use to make a splash image using GIMP--which you can download in Adept Manager. Read the How-To's that dibl references, including mine (Reply #4 & 7). Those references will also have some links to free, ready-to-go splash images.
